Fall J/80 Series
Notice of Race - 2007

Invitation:  J/80 Fleet 1/The Lake Winnipesaukee Sailing Association Inc. (LWSA) (the organizing authority) invites all members of the J/80 Class Association to participate.

Rules

Races will be governed by the “rules”, as defined by The Racing Rules of Sailing 2005-2008, which, by definition, include the US Sailing Prescriptions, the ISAF Recognized J/80 Class Rules (available at www.j80.org/rules.php), this notice of race, and the sailing instructions.

The series is designated as an “Open” event as defined by paragraph C.2.2 of the ISAF Recognized J/80 Class Rules.

Eligibility:

The series is open to any J/80 Class boat that meets the eligibility requirements of the class rules, registers, and pays the fee. In addition an owner or skipper of the boat must be an LWSA member.

An Owner’s Declaration as specified by paragraph A.12 of the ISAF Recognized J/80 Class Rules is required to be on file prior to the first race.  A pro-forma Owner’s Declaration is presented in Appendix H4 of the Class Rules.  Please prepare a copy of this form and submit it along with your entry fee.

A valid National Class Association (NCA) Sticker must be affixed to the transom of the hull.  (Paragraph B.1.1 of the ISAF Recognized J/80 Class Rules.) A valid National Class Association Sticker must be affixed to the transom of the hull.  (Paragraph B.1.1 of the ISAF Recognized J/80 Class Rules.)

In lieu of paying annual dues to the National Class Association and displaying the NCA Sticker, any J/80 class boat registering for the series may elect to direct the usual NCA dues amount ($50) to the LWSA for the explicit use of Fleet One. Any boat electing this alternative must include the directed payment along with their entry fee(s) and note such alternative on their submitted Owner’s Declaration. If a boat has previous paid for the spring or summer series, that boat need not pay again. Please note that NCA membership will be required for participation in the J-Jamboree.

Sails must have the class-royalty patch affixed.  (Paragraph G.2.3 of the ISAF Recognized J/80 Class Rules.)

Participating boats shall strive to observe the Crew Weight requirements (Paragraph C.3.1 of the ISAF Recognized J/80 Class Rules.) Note that a Crew Weigh-In will be required as part of the J Jamboree registration.

Entry and Fees

There will be a $55 fee ($50 for US Sailing Members). Instructions for registering are available our website at www.lwsa.org/j80/register

No boat will be scored (other than DNC) for an evening until an owner is an owner-member of a J/80 National Class Association (or in lieu of such membership has contributed $50 to the LWSA for Fleet One use) , until an owner is a member of the LWSA, and until either her paper registration forms (including Owner’s Declaration) and payment are received (or postmarked) at least one day prior to the evening to be scored or her online registration is completed and payment received before the scheduled beginning of the evening’s races. Scoring:

The Low Point Scoring System in Appendix A of the racing rules will be used.

Six races shall constitute a series.

Except for the J-Jamboree in which all races will be scored for the Fall Series, only the first three races of each day will be scored for the Fall Series.

Each boat’s series score will be the total of all its scores, discarding its worst score if more than six races are held in the series.  The maximum number of discards allowed in a series will be one. This changes rule A2.

Byes: Each boat will be entitled to receive her average score (after discard) for all races of one regatta (day or night) in which she was scored DNC.  Details will be addressed in the Sailing Instructions.

Awards: An awards ceremony and dinner will be held on October 4, 2007.  Time and place will be announced at a later date.
