J/80 Fleet 1 Thursday Night Series
Notice of Race – 2014

Invitation:  J/80 Fleet 1/The Lake Winnipesaukee Sailing Association, Inc. (LWSA) (the organizing authority) invites all members of the J/80 Class Association to participate.

Rules

Races will be governed by the “rules”, as defined by The Racing Rules of Sailing, which, by definition, include the US Sailing Prescriptions, the ISAF Recognized J/80 Class Rules (available at www.j80.org/rules.php), this notice of race, and the sailing instructions, except where changed or modified in the Sailing Instructions.

Both series are designated as “Open” events as defined by paragraph C.2.2 of the ISAF Recognized J/80 Class Rules.

Eligibility:

Each series is open to any J/80 class boat that meets the eligibility requirements of the class rules, registers, and pays the fee. In addition an owner or skipper of the boat is strongly encouraged to be an LWSA member.

An Owner’s Declaration as specified by paragraph A.12 of the ISAF Recognized J/80 Class Rules is required to be on file prior to the first race.  A pro-forma Owner’s Declaration is presented in Appendix H4 of the Class Rules.  Please prepare a copy of this form and submit it along with your entry fee.

A valid National Class Association Sticker (NCA) must be affixed to the transom of the hull.  (Paragraph B.1.1 of the ISAF Recognized J/80 Class Rules.)

Sails must have the class-royalty patch affixed.  (Paragraph G.2.3 of the ISAF Recognized J/80 Class Rules.)

Participating boats shall strive to observe the Crew Weight requirements (Paragraph C.3.1 of the ISAF Recognized J/80 Class Rules.)

Participating boats may be required to volunteer one regular crew member or other able person for one night of assisting the race committee Failure to comply will result in the boat being scored DSQ in that evening’s races.  A boat may choose to use its byes on their evening to fulfill this duty, however a crewmember or other able person must still be present.  Switching nights with other boats will be allowed, but it is the responsibility of the skipper to make these arrangements. If necessary a volunteer schedule shall be created by the Fleet Captains after registration is complete.

Entry and Fees

There will be a $175 fee per series ($165 for US Sailing Members).  Instructions for registering are available at www.lwsa.org/j80/register

No boat will be scored (other than DNC) for an evening until an owner is an owner-member of the J/80 National Class Association, until an owner is a member of the LWSA, and until either her paper registration forms (including Owners Declaration) and payment are received (or postmarked) at least one day prior to the evening to be scored or her online registration is completed and payment received before the scheduled beginning of the evening’s races, except that for the purposes of the May 22nd race a owner may register for the spring series no later than 5:00pm May 23rd and be scored for the May 22nd race.  The race committee will not accept any registration paperwork or fees.
