3rd Annual Winnipesaukee Open One Design (W.O.O.D)

Regatta

June 12 & 13, 1999

 

Invitation: The Lake Winnipesaukee Sailing Association and the Winnipesaukee Yacht Club are once again pleased to invite all sailors to the 1999 W.O.O.D. Regatta and San Juan 24 East Coast Championship.

Eligibility: The regatta is open to any skipper or owner who wishes to participate. Participants must meet all regatta requirements, and must have paid all event fees and have completed an official entry form and waiver (fax or photo copy forms will be accepted) before becoming official competitors. The Event is open to all classes and types of boats of a single design, and starts will be provided to all classes of boats with 3 pre-registered entrants in their class.

Rules: This regatta will be governed by The Racing Rules Of Sailing (RROS) 1997-2000 Including US SAILING Prescriptions, the class rules of the respective class associations, this notice (except as to any modifications by the sailing Instructions), and the sailing instructions. The top finishing San Juan 24 will be awarded the WYC San Juan 24 trophy and will be recognized as the San Juan 24 East Coast Champion.

Scoring: The low point scoring system (Appendix A2) will apply, except that each boats total score will be the sum of her scores for all races. The 720 degree Turns Penalty, Rule 44.2 of the RROS shall apply.

Launching/Hauling: Launching will be available at Fays Boatyard, Gilford, N.H. on Friday June 11,1999 between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM and by appointment. Moorings will also be available at Fays. To arrange for launch contact Mike Wiesberg at (603)293-8000.Launch/Haul/Mooring costs are by private arrangement with the Boatyard and are not part of the entry fee.

Entry: Each entry must be submitted in the form attached hereto (a photocopy or fax copy will be accepted). The entry fee is $40.00 ($35.00 for USSA members) by cash or check payable to Lake Winnipesaukee Sailing Association (LWSA). All proceeds are to benefit the LWSA youth sailing program.

Site: Racing will take place on Lake Winnipesaukee in either of the following locations:

A. The area known as "The Broads"

B. The area known as "Sanders Bay"

Boats: Each fleet shall consist of no less than three boats of a one design description. Each fleet shall be responsible to insure that its own one design class rules are adhered to. Each class entering the regatta shall designate a fleet representative to coordinate events and prizes with the regatta chair or, where appropriate, the PRO. Class registration by the fleet representative may be accomplished at any time up to the close of the opening meeting.

Prizes: Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in fleets of three boats, the top 2 finishers in fleets of four boats and the top 3 finishers in fleets of five or more boats.

Social: An awards ceremony will be held at the WYC immediately following the last race.

Three races shall constitute a Regatta.The Race Committee Plans to run as many races as weather allows on each day of racing

No race shall be started after 3:00 P.M. on Sunday

Waiver

The undersigned agrees to be bound by The Racing Rules Of Sailing, Including US Sailing Prescriptions 1997-2000 and all other rules that govern this event. The undersigned acknowledges that the competition in which he/she has entered is dangerous and assumes all risk of accident, loss of property and personal injury or loss of life. The undersigned also acknowledges that the establishment of any equipment regulations, and/or the inspections of boats is merely for the purpose of ensuring fair competition and neither serves as a certification that the boat on which he/she is competing is safe nor relieves the undersigned of his/her sole and exclusive responsibility to maintain the boat in a sound, properly equipped thoroughly seaworthy and safe condition.

The undersigned represents that the boat on which he/she will compete in this event is sound, properly equipped, thoroughly seaworthy and safe. The undersigned represents that all equipment aboard, including, but not limited to, safety and emergency equipment, is properly stowed, has been well maintained, is in good operating condition and is appropriate for this competition. The undersigned also represents that he/she and any crew permitted aboard the boat are experienced and competent, are physically fit, and capable of swimming and treading water in full sailing attire, and have been instructed in the use and location of all safety equipment aboard the boat.

The undersigned acknowledges that the decision to start and/or continue racing is the sole and exclusive responsibility of the undersigned.

In consideration of the acceptance of this entry, the undersigned certifies that each of the foregoing statements and representations are true and accurate and, on behalf of himself/herself and his/her heirs, successors and assigns, hereby releases and forever discharges J/24 Fleet 140, San Juan 24 Fleet 18, Fays Boatyard, Inc., The Winnipesaukee Yacht Club and the Lake Winnipesaukee Sailing Association and their respective members, volunteers, employees, agents, Officers, Board of Directors, Race Committees and Juries from any and all liability arising out of my participation in this regatta and all social events connected therewith, whether such loss is due to property damage, personal injuries or loss of life, even if such loss is due to the negligence of any party so released.
