Notice of Series

 

The organizing authority for the Series is the Lake Winnipesaukee Sailing Association, Inc. (LWSA). The series is governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing. Scoring will be per this Notice.

 

Eligibility

This series is open to all boats whose owner or skipper is a member of the LWSA. Registration with PHRF-NE is not required but a valid certified rating would be a help. Assistance with your PHRF rating can be obtained from John Parsons, . There is no fee to enter the series. Each event must be entered separately according to the host's rules of entry.

 

Schedule           8 race dates, about 12 races as follows:

               

                LWSA Independence Day Race – July 3rd                      Around the Islands

                WYC Commodore’s Cup – July 26th                                Buoy Races

                WYC Commodore’s Cup – July 27th                                Island Race

                WYC Long Distance Race – July 28th                              Island Course under Full Moon

                WYC Jimmy Fund Race – July 30th                                 Island Race

                LWSA Poker Run Race – August 15th                              Multiple Destination Stops

                LWSA Double Handed Frying Pan Race – Sept 3rd   Around Welch Island

                LWSA/Fay’s Cruisers Race – Sept. 18th                          Island Race

 

                Other races may be added with at least two weeks notice.

 

 

Divisions

                Spinnaker, Non-Spinnaker, True Cruising, J80 Jib & main

                There must a minimum of three boats to form a division.

                Fleet splits at individual regattas will be combined for BOTY scoring.

 

Scoring

This is a High Point Series with each boat receiving 5 points for participating in each race and one point for each boat beaten. Points will be scored on a per race basis. Boats scored DNF or OCS receives their check-in points only. Boats scored DSQ, DNC, or DNS receive no points.

 

Qualification

The best finishes of 70% (rounded to the closest whole number) of the races held will be scored. i.e.: If 16 total races are held, the best 11 finishes will be scored for each boat.

 

Awards

Awards will be made based on the number of boats qualifying in each division. 1st for up to three boats, 1st, 2nd for 4-6 boats, 1st, 2nd, 3rd for more than 6 boats.
