LWSA Annual Meeting & Awards Dinner: Sunday October 21, 2007

Greetings LWSA, PHRF Cruising Fleet & Fleet 1 Members,

The LWSA Annual Meeting along with the J-80 Fleet 1 and PHRF/Cruising Fleet Awards Dinner is currently scheduled for Owl's Nest Golf Club (40 Clubhouse Lane, Campton NH 03223) on Thursday, October 4, 2007. For a variety of reasons, this gathering needs to be moved to Sunday, October 21, 2007. The most pressing reason is the facility is already in use on the night of the fourth, but there are other reasons as well.

We're going to combine the dinner meeting with an 18-hole golf tournament with ALL PROCEEDS, except for a $50 per team prize pool, being donated by Owl's Nest to the LWSA/Adams Memorial Sailing Center.

Enter a four player team under your boat's name in this scramble format event and let's have some fun for a really great cause. We're going to tee off at 10:00 am so plan to arrive earlier if you want to hit some balls The greens fee is $60 per person, including cart fee (normally $80 per player on a Sunday in October). There's a requirement that at least two players in your foursome must have sailed or raced on your boat at least once this summer and no pros or serious ringers are allowed.

In addition to the awards, we will review LWSA accomplishments for the year, our financial position, and elect new board members. Only LWSA members are eligible to vote. If you are not a member already, please consider joining. See the Support the LWSA page for more info.

A cash bar cocktail party under the tent will start at 4:00 pm and the LWSA Annual Meeting will begin promptly at 5:00 pm. Dinner followed by the awards presentation will get underway at 5:30 pm. I anticipate the event will be over no later than 7:30 to 8:00 pm so everyone can get home early.

There are a limited number of overnight accommodations available at Owl's Nest in case you don't want to drive home that same night. Call Evan Mullen at 726-3076 x 233 for details.

The afternoon and evening promise to be fun filled with a few surprises planned. If you can't make it for the golf tournament, be sure to come for the social activities. Dress for this event will be smart casual and dinner tickets will be $30 per person, tax and gratuity included, with a choice of two different entrees.

Please use the one of the RSVP forms (see the links to the left) to enter the tournament and/or to reserve your place and menu choice for the dinner gathering. This will be an excellent opportunity to introduce your spouses and significant others to all those people they only hear you talking or swearing about when you get home after a race or a weekend regatta.

Please respond as quickly as you can so that Owl's Nest and the LWSA can plan accordingly and thanks for making 2007 a great year on the water!!!

Regards,

Tom Mullen, LWSA Rear Commodore, J-80 Fleet 1 Captain
