Understanding the Racing Rules of Sailing
presented by Dave Perry

Winnipesaukee Yacht Club, Dockham Shore Rd., Gilford, NH
Saturday, May 13th
8:30 AM to 5 PM

Dave will go through the racing rules, ensuring that we understand the rules and how to apply them to situations that can assure safety and  maximize winning tactics with that increased knowledge. Emphasis will be placed on knowing the rules for situations at the start, making mark roundings, and finishing. As our fleet size has grown the need to know the rules has grown ever so important. It is an integral part of our sport and should be understood so as to maintain a safe and level field. Bring your questions for the informal Q&A session.

Dave Perry is well known for his clear, humorous and highly interactive presentations. He has authored three books on the sport, Understanding the Racing Rules of Sailing, Winning in One Designs, and Dave Perry’s 100 Best Racing Rules Quizzes. Dave is a member of the US Sailing Appeals Committee and is a Senior Certified Judge. Dave was a two- time All American sailor, has won numerous regattas in various one designs and is a recipient of several awards for his service to the sport over the years. Dave is currently Director of Athletics at Greens Farm Academy, a K-12 independent school in Westport, Connecticut.
