2007 J/80 Fleet 1 Scoring

Each series will be scored as follows:

The Low Point Scoring System in Appendix A of the Racing Rules of Sailing 2005-2008 will be used.

Six races shall constitute a series. A maximum of eighteen races per series are scheduled.

The first three races of each night will be scored.

Each boat’s series score will be the total of all its scores, discarding the worst score if more than six races are held in the series. The maximum number of discards allowed in a series will be one. This changes rule A2.

Byes: Each boat will be entitled to receive her average score (after discard) for all races of one regatta (night) in which she was scored DNC. Details will be addressed in the Sailing Instructions.

Boat of the Year

A Fleet 1 boat will be declared Boat of the Year (BOTY) based upon the combined results of the Spring, Summer, and Fall Series, and the results of the J-Jamboree. The total points from the four events will be added together to determine the overall winner. A tie will be broken using the criteria from Appendix A of the RRS.

Points from the J-Jamboree results will be determined by the actual finish positions of Fleet 1 boats, i.e.: In a J-Jamboree in which an non-Fleet 1 boat finishes first and a Fleet 1 boat finishes second, that Fleet 1 boat would receive the two points of her actual finishing place in that race. The winner will be declared at the Award's Dinner in October and will retain possession of the BOTY perpetual trophy for the following year.
